An amazing app
Edit. Yay for bug fixes!
Full Review:
I have bought both this app and the iPad version. Needless to say, its well worth the money including upgrading to the pro features. (I highly recommend this as the extra features are just amazing!)
While some people may be unsure if they should part with a small amount of money for Frax, I can say that its worth the money none the less. Plus if youre truly someone who is interested in the creation of fractals, then this is literally a steal! Its relaxing exploring, generating and customizing the fractals. The amount of tools available is definitely very generous. And the Frax Pro is even better.
The performance of Frax is outstanding for the realtime rendering. (And this is something I have to really compliment the developers on) While you can obviously expect decreased performance on an older device, the current devices and some older ones work just fine with Frax. Youll find that the moment you start using it, it feels powerful and snappy. And you can tell that this is one professional app for iOS. Its polished and its clear that a lot of hard work has gone into this. It really isnt like the other fractal apps available. You can tell that this is the real deal. The interface is simple but very beautiful and fits well. Easy to use and non intrusive.
The app itself offers plenty of features and its complimented with a very nice helpful guide on how to get the most out of the app. And as an added bonus, the help guide touches on how some of the rendering effects are done for those who are interested. I certainly enjoyed reading it. And if youre still interested in learning more about fractals and how they work so to speak, there is a link available in the help guide with plenty of information on them. Something that I also have to say is a nice added bonus.
Also if youre not so interested in creating fractals you can simply make use of viewing the ones that come with the app. And if you want more, in a few taps you can load up the community section where users have shared their creations. And with a single touch, you can load them up and play with them or customize them to your hearts content. Or you can even share your own!
But if that isnt enough, Frax also offers "Frax Flow" which I can say is basically like a screensaver. It displays random fractals and slowly pans and zooms in or out of them and after a while will change to an entirely new fractal. And if at any time you see something youd like to play with, in just a tap you can stop the "flow" and get straight into playing with the currently displayed fractal.
And finally should you wish to save an image of a fractal, you have the option of choosing from various resolutions. And for the enthusiasts, you can make use of Frax Cloud which allows you to render ultra resolution images. (you get a few freebies for Frax Cloud and then require credits)
So with that said. I recommend this to anybody who is interested in playing with fractals or who just want to create and view pretty visual masterpieces. Its well worth the price and its a pleasant experience.
Now if only I could find a nice fluid toy app that is amazing as this app!
