Fraⅹ App Reviews

Beautiful and hypnotizing

This app is the best fractal experience on a mobile device.

Fractal Perfection

There is nothing else which even comes close to Frax for exploring fractals and creating fractal art on iOS.

Fractal beauty!

So awesome, I play this more then IB3! Shut up and take my money!

Fantastic

Benoit Mandelbrot would be proud of you. This is a fast and beautiful implementation, the best I have seen. Thank you so much!

Awesome

Good app for making intro vids then export into another app for text overlays and such. Works fantastic as backdrop to use in other video editing software. Pan controls could use some work. While recording if you shift the movements its a bit jerky in the video. Easy to understand layout. Pro version can be a bit tricky to find when reinstalling. But other than that love using this. Great little (big) app.

Just get it!

Great little time killer. Reminds me of playing around with kpt5 back in the day. If you like fractals, then you owe it to yourself to get this app.

fractal nirvana

Frax is the second coming of Kai Krause and his crew. A powerful, deceptively simple app. If youre even remotely interested in fractal art beyond a toy sandbox, you owe it to yourself to upgrade to Pro. Now featuring interactive video capture w/ social media export (e.g. Vine), or presets embedded in tweets, your own presets gallery at Fract.al, plus so much more its ridiculous... Dont be fooled: this _IS NOT_ a crappy toy app from the bad new days of mobile chicanery, it is a substantial soft ware from one of the greatest developers in history. Buy. Now. P. S. Hopefully theyll revive Interform from the mid-90s soon, as it yields even more sophisticated results over a broader range of effects! P. P. S. The early bad reviews are hogwash from users whose complaints are totally false, for instance that money for any worthwhile content is required on an ongoing basis (render credits are a pittance and you can render at quite high quality on your own device all you want), that its not a powerful app which has severe limitations (among the most capable, complex apps ever to exist, at ridiculously low cost, to boot!)... Obviously, they didnt know a good thing when they saw one.

Frax is fantastic!

I give this five stars because it is such a great app. It will do the work for you, or you can take over and be as creative as you wish. You can control all the settings. Texture, where the fractal comes from, colors, height, lighting and more. Pay the extra for the extra features. Even more possibilities! Theres video too!

Beautiful

Best of any fractal image app, period. Especially stunning on the iPad.

Pretty good

Overall its pretty good because you can make great art but it feels a little limited ,I didnt use it for a long time and master it so maybe Im missing something but its still fun

An amazing app

Edit. Yay for bug fixes! Full Review: I have bought both this app and the iPad version. Needless to say, its well worth the money including upgrading to the pro features. (I highly recommend this as the extra features are just amazing!) While some people may be unsure if they should part with a small amount of money for Frax, I can say that its worth the money none the less. Plus if youre truly someone who is interested in the creation of fractals, then this is literally a steal! Its relaxing exploring, generating and customizing the fractals. The amount of tools available is definitely very generous. And the Frax Pro is even better. The performance of Frax is outstanding for the realtime rendering. (And this is something I have to really compliment the developers on) While you can obviously expect decreased performance on an older device, the current devices and some older ones work just fine with Frax. Youll find that the moment you start using it, it feels powerful and snappy. And you can tell that this is one professional app for iOS. Its polished and its clear that a lot of hard work has gone into this. It really isnt like the other fractal apps available. You can tell that this is the real deal. The interface is simple but very beautiful and fits well. Easy to use and non intrusive. The app itself offers plenty of features and its complimented with a very nice helpful guide on how to get the most out of the app. And as an added bonus, the help guide touches on how some of the rendering effects are done for those who are interested. I certainly enjoyed reading it. And if youre still interested in learning more about fractals and how they work so to speak, there is a link available in the help guide with plenty of information on them. Something that I also have to say is a nice added bonus. Also if youre not so interested in creating fractals you can simply make use of viewing the ones that come with the app. And if you want more, in a few taps you can load up the community section where users have shared their creations. And with a single touch, you can load them up and play with them or customize them to your hearts content. Or you can even share your own! But if that isnt enough, Frax also offers "Frax Flow" which I can say is basically like a screensaver. It displays random fractals and slowly pans and zooms in or out of them and after a while will change to an entirely new fractal. And if at any time you see something youd like to play with, in just a tap you can stop the "flow" and get straight into playing with the currently displayed fractal. And finally should you wish to save an image of a fractal, you have the option of choosing from various resolutions. And for the enthusiasts, you can make use of Frax Cloud which allows you to render ultra resolution images. (you get a few freebies for Frax Cloud and then require credits) So with that said. I recommend this to anybody who is interested in playing with fractals or who just want to create and view pretty visual masterpieces. Its well worth the price and its a pleasant experience. Now if only I could find a nice fluid toy app that is amazing as this app!

Meh.

Its cool for a minute. But its pretty worthless.

Artistic and beautiful

I realized I spent an hour generating beautiful works of art in my phone. This app allows you to play with fractals, and you will be very happy with the results.

Amazing!

The best experience you can have with Fractals on Mobile without a doubt. The options are limitless and the control are beautiful. Thank you so much! I would recommend upgrading to Pro to anyone. The extra settings really help give your vision a reality.

Eyes buggin

kinda trippy and I love it keep it comin

Absolutely beautiful

The visuals on this app are so amazing. Ive always wanted a fractal generator, but never found one before this one that was so full featured and beautiful.

Waste of a buck.

Total waste of money. I deleted it after less than 10 minutes.

Stops you if too zoomed in, should be infinite

Fractals are incredible, and this app does an OK job of letting you explore. But to me one of the most amazing things about fractals is that they are infinite. I was very disappointed when I zoomed in as far as I could go and was stopped.

Lose yourself in an island of mathematics

If this existed 200 years ago, kings and queens would sacrifice half their subjects to be able to play with it. Philosophers and artists and mathematicians would lose their freaking minds. Now, we buy it for 99 cents. It really does give you the sense, which is true by the way, that math is a vast continent and you can easily amuse yourself on any one of its beautiful, idiosyncratic islands.

Really Cool

It never gets old. There is literally an infinite number of unique designs that can be made. Great app to discover the wonders of the nature of the physical universe. It is also a pretty cool wallpaper maker haha.
